Why Gilberts Dream

Gilbert was my maternal grandfather who always wanted to be a photographer.  He went so far as to invest in a really nice camera and lens.  Unfortunately, the people in his life didn't support him  and he never went beyond family and vacation pictures.  Of course, he took a LOT of vacation pictures and I had the pleasure of digitizing them long after he passed.
I named my endeavor after him to honor a dream that never took flight.  I hope it brings a smile to all those who remember him and wonder at what could have been.

Who am I?

I'm an amateur photographer living in West Lafayette, Indiana.   I've always loved taking pictures and started out doing simple nature photography around my home with a Panasonic Superzoom.  In 2022, I was having dinner with another photographer (Dario Impini) and we started talking about boudoir photography and how I had some ideas for how I would do it.
He was enthusiastically supportive and gave me some tips and advice to get started.
I got my first DSLR not long after that and started the journey.  Since then, I've watched a LOT of videos, attended conferences, and tried to figure out just what "my style" actually is.
Photography is a way to let this very analytical guy express creativity in a way that makes sense to me.
